Dairy Farm’s growing sales and profits aided by diversity

DAIRY FARM has reported that its sales for the year ended 31 December 2006 were up by 9% while underlying profits gained 11%. With its 7-Eleven, Cold Storage and Giant operations totalling 27 outlets, spread over nine countries, this regional diversification is cited by the company as a key factor in its success.

Even as its Hong Kong, Taiwan and Singapore markets remain strong, emerging ones such as Malaysia and China, too, have performed well, with high potential returns seen in Vietnam and Thailand, reported Dairy Farm.

The company began the construction of its first hypermarket in Brunei in January this year, during which it will also increase its ccapoital expenditure to US$200 million, wiht 40% set aside for developments Malaysia.
