Aeon to open stores in Penang, Kuala Lumpur

AEON CO (M) BHD, operator of Jusco supermarkets in Malaysia will be opening a store in Seberang Prai, Penang, and another in Ampang, Kuala Lumpur, this year. Said group chairman Datuk Abdullah Mohd Yusof at the launch of the newest store, Jusco Bandar Sunway: “We are identifying sites in Penang, Johor and the Klang Valley.”

Managing director of Aeon Corporation, Nagahisa Oyama, expects the new outlets to be ready by the third quarter of the year, bringing the number of Jusco outlets in Malaysia to 21.

Datuk Abdullah continued: “We have always been growing in tandem with the country’s economic growth rate. If the country attained 5% or 6% growth, we will grow between 11% and 12%.” The group’s last-quarter financial report for the year just ended is expected to see a sales growth of 13%, he added.
