THE era of cheap food is over.

With drastic climate changes affecting agriculture all over the world, oil prices skyrocketing and, in the mistaken belief that bio-fuel from corn can help
ease the demand for fuel, more farmland has been diverted to producing grains for ethanol.

The day of US$4-a-gallon of gasoline in the US is becoming a reality and this will cause another spike in grain prices, as fuel is needed for the production
and transportation of grains across vast distances to reach supermarkets or ports in North America.
