XPROTEAN INC, a US-based integrated retail-solutions provider, has devised an integrated retail-management solution for small retailers to tackle a range of retail operations, from point-of-sale
to back-office and corporate functions. While small operating formats form one of the retail industry’s fastest-growing segments, the high cost of incorporating traditional solutions have left such retailers with “fragmented” services that often fail to support business integration yet increase their business cost and complexity.

According to Dorothy Rosenthal, vice-president of IT research company Viewpoint Research Inc, small retailers are a “growing customer segment in the Retail POS Industry”. She added: “However, up to now, retail POS technology was developed for enterprise customers like large banks and grocery-store chains.”
