Process payments on the go
Story 10 - Retail Technology

INTERMEC has launched two commercial mobile receipt printers that provide low-cost, wearable receipt printing solutions for retail and field service. The lightweight PB2 (two-inch) and PB3 (three-inch) systems seamlessly complement Intermec’s CN3 and CK3 mobile handheld computers.

Both printers come with an optional magnetic-stripe reader, giving workers the flexibility to accept payments via the printers or mobile computers. Payments can be processed on the go and receipts
can be generated immediately, improving customer satisfaction, raising productivity and creating new opportunities for sales, the company said.

“The printers can be comfortably worn all day using the belt-loop system, which comes standard with every printer, or an optional shoulder strap. Handsfree options also include a weather-resistant
IP54-rated environmental case [for] protection in outdoor applications such as electronic citations, postal delivery, and car-rental return processing without impairing mobility,” it added.

The long-lasting, field-replaceable batteries used can be charged independent of the printers, maximising uptime and convenience.

“We designed the PB2 and PB3 printers to increase productivity for workers on the go, with low up-front
purchase cost,” said Earl Thomson, senior vice-president and general manager of the Intermec Mobile
Solutions Business Unit.

“The devices ... enable businesses to enhance supply-chain operations and maximise profit.”

Intermec now accepts orders for its PB2 and PB3. A New York Stock Exchange- listed company, Intermec develops and integrates products, services and technologies that identify, track and
manage supply-chain assets and information.
