FHM 2009 set to whet appetites in hospitality and food-service industries

MALAYSIA’S largest food, beverage and hospitality event, the 10th Food and Hotel Malaysia (FHM) 2009, is set to be staged at the Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre (KLCC) from August 11-14.

Organised by Malaysian Exhibition Services Sdn Bhd, the biennial event, dubbed the “tastiest show in town”, will showcase a selection of the country’s well-loved food and beverages, along with exclusive hospitality products and equipment, and services for the industry.

Some 20,000 trade visitors and buyers from more than 50 countries worldwide are expected at the event this year. Among the 700 exhibitors that are participating on the show floor are international groups from South Korea, Sri Lanka and Taiwan, which will showcase their wares at country pavilions.

Also participating is the US Pavilion, which will bring together some of the industry’s trade associations and groups, such as the Southern United States Trade Association (SUSTA), the US Meat Export Federation, the USA Poultry & Egg Export Council and the USA Potato Board.

Making its debut at the show this year is the Taiwanese Pavilion. Brought together under the TAITRA (Taiwan External Trade Development Council) banner, the Taiwanese Pavilion will host an array of renowned brands, from beverages, porridge and desserts by Taisun Foods & Marketing Co Ltd to special Niu Tou (cow head) sauces by Haw-Di-I Foods Co Ltd. Popular favourites, such as sweets and confectionery, along with health drinks, processed food and fruit, will also be on display at the pavilion which comprises a total of 48 booths.
