Lim Siang Huat taps on Oracle E-Business Suite to enhance operations

SINGAPORE trade company Lim Siang Huat has tapped software giant Oracle to replace its multiple legacy systems.

Tasked to provide the company with integrated enterprise resource planning (ERP) capabilities to its support growth, Oracle, the world’s largest business software company, deployed its E-Business Suite — a comprehensive suite of integrated, global business applications that provides an integrated business intelligence portfolio, an adaptable global business platform and a customer-focused applications strategy.

The implement a tion was conducted by Sierra Atlantic, a certified partner of the Oracle PartnerNetwork which specialises in solutions for the manufacturing and distribution sector.

“We needed an integrated ERP application that could scale with our business growth and integrate our business processes across the entire value chain,” said Peter Lim, Lim Siang Huat’s executive director.

“Implementing the Oracle E-Business Suite has enabled [our company] to improve visibility of information and cash flows, contributing to the doubling of our revenues.”

Frank Koo, managing director of Oracle Singapore, said: “We are pleased that our solutions have delivered strategic value to Lim Siang Huat’s business.”

“A growing number of organisations around the world are standardising on Oracle E-Business Suite to make better, more timely decisions, stay ahead of competition and manage globally to help lower operating costs and increase performance,” he added.

Founded in the 1940s as a grocery supplier to the British Forces, Lim Siang Huat has transformed itself to become a major supplier of canned foods and grocery products to hotels, restaurants, supermarkets, bakeries, hospitals and airlines. It supplies more than 5,000 products across popular brands including Knorr, Carte D’Or, Best Foods, Lipton, Bluebird and Marmite.
