Show on smart technologies making its Asian debut in Hong Kong
Story 9 - Preview

Over the past 24 years, the CARTES event in Paris, France, has developed rapidly along with the smart
technologies sector. Year after year, it is the major global business event for the cards industry, bringing together participants from 140 countries and covering user markets such as payment, transport, retail, telecommunications, identification and e-government.

Now, for the first time, this wellestablished and successful trade event will be available in Asia as CARTES in Asia makes it debut in Hong Kong next month.

The Asia-Pacific region is experiencing the fastest-growth rates in the industry, based on its large consumer base, strong security requirements and the local economies resisting well to
the current global economic situation.

In addition, according to Comexposium Group, the organiser of CARTES in Asia 2010, feedback from key players in the market over the past 18 months has indicated that there is a need for a business
development event for this dynamic region. Thus the idea for CARTES in Asia was born.

The first edition of CARTES in Asia will take place from March 16-18 at AsiaWorld-Expo in Hong Kong. The event consists of an opening conference on March 16 with a networking cocktail party, followed by the presentation of a special Asian SESAMES Award recognising the year’s most innovative
smart technology application in the Asia-Pacific region.
