Great Singapore Sale goes ‘experiential’

THE Great Singapore Sale (GSS), returns for its 17th season under the theme: ‘Your Great Singapore Sale Experience’.

Thousands of retail stores and malls across the nation, from the central shopping belt of Orchard Road and Marina Bay to the Southern Waterfront and suburbs participate in this annual eight-week event that is organised by the Singapore Retailers Association (SRA).

Lau Chuen Wei, executive director of SRA, said that this year, the sale has an added dimension that goes beyond shopping. “To enhance the total lifestyle experience, apart from the great discounts at participating stores, consumers can also enjoy great savings at 40 Singapore attractions as well as value deals on hotel stays with a host of complimentary value-adds from some 30 hotels in Singapore.”

Commented Andrew Phua, director of tourism shopping and dining at the Singapore Tourism Board (STB): “The retail landscape this year will be even more exciting with new and newly refurbished malls along Orchard Road, as well as the two newly-opened integrated resorts, all offering great shopping experiences and deals for shoppers.”

He added that shopping remains a key tourism pillar in Singapore. It wasthe highest tourist expenditure item at S$31 billion (US$21.9 billion) last year.
