Asian consumer markets?
Story 1 - One Viewpoint
At the final quarter mark of 2011, the dark clouds of a global economic recession
loomed ominously in the shadow of the continuing US economic doldrums and
the Eurozone debt crisis. Analysts and expert organisations are generally optimistic
about Asian economies’ resilience and about their capacity to withstand a global
economic downturn if and when one hits. Their prognoses are fairly positive —
citing Asia’s robust financial position and the growing strength of Asia’s domestic
consumption … So, although it may be a grim outlook for the global economy, it
may not be totally gloom and doom for Asian economies in the New Year. It may
still be a reasonably happy 2012 for Asia’s consumer markets and retailers …
