APB has also been the official publisher for BroadcastAsia in Singapore since 1998, and has partnered with major worldwide trade shows such as NAB, BIRTV, IBC, CCBN, Inter-BEE, Broadcast India, and CASBAA Convention.

In 2002, APB established , the Regional Broadcast Training Centre, to provide broadcasters from around the Asia-Pacific region with engineering and production courses.

 

The Business Company

Overview

The Company was incorporated in Singapore in 1993. Its mission was centered on the business of providing retailmanagement consulting services in Asia. Today, the company remains strongly focused in its business niche. It has however expanded its scope from retailing to the wider span of the supply chain industry including shopping centre and all development strategic planning. The company’s core competencies lie in theareas of business strategy development; branding and market positioning; and market expansion programmes.

The company was founded by Steven H L Goh, a career retail professional with more than 25 years of top management experience in Asia.  He was the managing director and CEO of the Metro group of stores in Singapore. He had also held various executive board appointments at a number of other multinational corporations in Singapore, Malaysia and Indonesia e.g. Toys “R” Us, Kmart, Seiyu and Muji. He was closely involved with the Singapore Retailers Association and was its elected chairman for three successive terms.  Currently Steven  Goh  also  serves  on  the  board of Wing On in Hong Kong.

Steven Goh had also served on the boards and councils of such national bodies as the Singapore Central Provident Fund, National Productivity Council, National Crime Prevention Council, etc. Currently he is an elected Council member of the Singapore National Employers Federation and a Board member of the. Institute of Technical Education Holding, He is an alumnus of the Young President Organisation. In 1993 he was conferred the Public Service Medal by the Singapore President. He had also received several commendations from the Singapore Government. He holds BSc and MBA degrees and regularly speaks at international conferences and seminars.

Clients/Associate Companies

The Company had successfully done projects with such multinational companies  as Wing On of Hong Kong; Kmart of USA; Great River and Toko Gunung Agung of of Indonesia; Plaza Fair of the Philippines; Compaq Computers Asia Pacific; and Turnkey Business  Solutions of Canada/Singapore. More recently, the Company provided counsel to companies involved in a proposed shopping mall development in India. Currently, the Company is working on projects with the SM Group, an Asian conglomerate and the Philippines’ largest retailers and mall owners.

The Company is associated with Retail Asia Publishing where Steven Goh holds majority equity interest and is its executive chaiman. Retail Asia Publishing publishes the  region’s leading retail trade magazines and has close relationship with such trade organisations as the Federation of Asia n Retailer Associations; the Food Marketing Institute of the USA; the National Houseware Manufacturers Association of the USA; Messe Düesseldorf Asia Pacific; etc. Its annual Asia-Pacific Top 500 ranking of retailers is a landmark publication in the region.

Networking Resources 

The Business Company and Steven Goh enjoy very good networking with all key national retail associations troughout Asia and with major enterprises in Asia’s retail and consumer industries. They also network closely with enterprises and trade organizations in North America and Europe. He currently serves on the EuroShop Retail Design Award Jury panel. Until recently, he was an elected member of the governing body of the International Labour Organisation of the UN in Geneva.
