HOFEX 2005 – an entrée into Asia’s hospitality and F&B markets

HOFEX 2005 — the 11th Asian International Exhibition of Food & Drink, Hotel, Restaurant & Foodservice Equipment, Supplies & Services — will return to Hong Kong from May 10-13.

“HOFEX 2005 will give exhibitors from all over the world an entrée into Asia’s food, beverages, hotel and foodservice equipment markets,” says the organiser Hong Kong Exhibition Services Ltd (HKES).

The biannual show will feature two main themes: Foodservice & Hospitality Equipment & Supplies, and Food & Drink. The show will occupy three halls in the Hong Kong Convention & Exhibition Centre, covering an exhibition area of 30,000sqm.

HKES expects participation from 2,000 companies and 30,000 trade visitors from around the world.

This year, the exhibition will host 35 national and regional pavilions, including Argentina, Austria, Australia, Belgium, Canada, Chile, China, France, Germany, Greece, the Netherlands, Indonesia, Italy, Japan, South Korea, Malaysia, Singapore, Spain, Sri Lanka, Taiwan, Thailand, the UK, and the US.

Joining HOFEX 2005 for the first time is Turkey, which will showcase gourmet products and an array of bakery ingredients.

An inaugural event at HOFEX 2005 is Hostec-Asia. Co-organised with Accuvia, this is set to be a sourcing ground and networking platform for hotel and restaurant professionals in the region.

Featured here are the latest developments in property management systems (PMS), point-of-sale (POS) systems, Internet applications, F&B management systems, security & safety systems, telecommunications, in-room systems, payroll systems, accounting software, broadband access, reservations systems, energy & building management systems, and computer-hardware systems.

Another section to watch out for is the Tea & Coffee Village, which is specially assigned for the fast-growing tea and coffee industries. Supporting associations, namely China Tea Marketing Association, Taiwan Tea Manufacturers’ Association, Taipei Tea Exporters Association, and Sri Lanka Tea Board, will promote their respective tea or coffee products.

At the Wine & Spirits Square, visitors will find the Wine & Spirits Lounge; sign up for the Sommeliers Corner for Wine Tasting Seminar and check out the importers & distributors of the Hong Kong Cellars, which will showcase an assortment of wines from Austria, Australia, Canada, Chile, France, Italy, Spain, and the US.

A new specialised sector, Spa & Resort Facilities, makes its debut at HOFEX 2005, reflecting the increasing demand for luxury spa services at hotels and spa resorts. Citing the growing market, HOFEX brings forward this initiative to interested parties to learn all about the spa market. Participants include Pure Spa Asia, Deckelmann- Wellness, Gumnut Software, McShane Hill, Mulit Jet, Athlegen, Oakworks, and Sonnentor.

Visitors can also look forward to an exciting Bakery Equipment & Ingredients section that will be expanded as a result of the current market trends and rising industry profile. Breaking from traditional norms, the bakery industry has embraced bakery innovativeness and creativity. Therefore, this section introduces the latest technology in bakery equipment and bakery related ingredients that attributed to the breakthrough.

Positive responses have been received from market leaders such as Kolb (H.K.) Ltd, The H.K. Electric Co Ltd, Beech Oven, Delifrance (HK) Ltd, La Rose Noire Holgings Ltd, Rotisol (Asia) Ltd, Eurofours, and Greenfield Worldtrade Inc.

Other events and activities scheduled at HOFEX 2005 will include: Regional Hotel General Managers Forum; Hong Kong International Culinary Classic; International Bartenders Cocktail Competition; F&B Forum; and Foodservice Consultants Society International.

HKES has launched a visitor preregistration service for early registration to beat the crowd and enjoy special privileges, such as free admission, 50% off for a copy of the Show Directory and lucky draws. Visitors can pre-register online at www.hofex.com.
