Pantaloon Signs JV With US Retailer Of Office Supplies

INDIA’S Pantaloon Retail has inked a deal with US-based office-supplies retailer Staples to serve businesses in the country via delivery and cash-and-carry operations. The partnership with Pantaloon’s subsidiary, Future Office, allows Staples to enter the US$10-billion domestic market for office products.

The venture, Staples Future Office, will retail a range of products, from core office supplies to printers and computers.

It will serve businesses of all sizes in the major cities of Delhi, Mumbai, Bangalore, Hyderabad, Chennai, Kolkata, Pune, Ahmedabad, Indore and Chandigarh.

“The office-product business in India presents tremendous opportunities for growth,” said Kishore Biyani, Pantaloon’s chairman and CEO.

“Through our partnership with industry leader Staples, we can become the office product provider of choice for businesses [nationwide].”
