Story 7

BALENO MALAYSIA, a subsidiary of Hong Kong-based Baleno Holdings, is aiming to multiply its in-base fashion outlets in the country from the current five to 15 next year.

With the added in-bases set up nationwide, the Malaysian arm is targeting annual sales of RM100 million (US$29.11 million), assistant general manager Ivan Teo told the local media. The current five stores carry the brands Baleno, Samuel & Kevin, I.P Zone, Astro Boy, Magic Boz, ebase and ebase garcons.

While Teo did not disclose the investment figure for the new stores, the company was known to have spent some RM12 million on the first five outlets.

The company is also mulling over the prospects of opening stores in the states of Sabah and Sarawak, where new shopping malls have sprung up. According to Teo, Baleno’s fashion items, priced from RM19-RM149, are targeted at different customer groups.
