Premium coffee franchise expands in Singapore Story 10
COFFEE specialty retailer Gloria Jeans Coffees will open three new outlets in Singapore by year-end, bringing the total number of outlets in the republic to 10. It is also scheduling to open another 10-12 outlets in 2008, with stores located in the suburban areas.
We are also going to base our regional warehouse for South-east Asia in Singapore, to tap on [the countrys] status as a logistics hub, said James Donald, managing director, Gloria Jeans Coffees, Singapore. The new warehouse will serve all its regional franchisees.
Through a mature and developed franchise system, Gloria Jeans can help its franchisees realise profits as owner-operators because profits remain in Singapore, unlike competing franchises where profits are returned to their host countries, such as the US, said the company. This means that small operators can benefit from the Gloria Jeans franchise in terms of guidance and sophisticated products and processes, it added.
Gloria Jeans won the Franchising & Licensing Association of Singapores International Franchisor of the Year award in 2006. The group has more than 800 stores worldwide and franchisees in over 35 countries.
