Demand spurs Asian retail property
Story 11

GROWING Asian consumer spending and tourism is spurring retail-property growth in the region, reported DTZ Research’s latest SEA Property Market Overview.

“Retail markets in the region are expected to sustain the growth momentum, as consumer sentiments remain positive. It will also be supported by increasing visitor arrivals, government
initiatives and new mall offerings. However, competition will intensify in some cities with significant new supply,” said Ong Choon Fah, executive director and regional head for consulting and research at DTZ.

Meanwhile, budget airlines have fuelled growing intra-regional competition, as each country continues to raise the bar on retailing, the study noted.
