SK Telecom forays into online malls

SOUTH KOREAN telecommunications provider SK Telecom has launched its ‘next-generation’ e-mall, “The 11st”, in a bid to become one of the nation’s leading e-commerce sites in the US$17- billion market.

Chong Nak-kyun, senior vice-president of commerce business at SK Telecom, said the group, which launched the online mall last February, expects a sales volume of 600 billion won (US$605 million) within the year, and is “aiming for more than one trillion won in transaction value in 2009”.
