ISM celebrates 40th edition with big birthday bash in Cologne
Story 5 - Preview

Industry leaders from across the world’s confectionery sector will meet in Cologne, Germany, for the 40th International Sweets and Biscuits (ISM 2010) from January 31 to February 3.

The central marketplace for the international confectionery industry, ISM started out in 1971 as a small, specialised event but has since grown into a leading international trade fair for confectionery and snack items, becoming “the multinational trading hub for suppliers from all over the world”.

ISM’s organiser, Koelnmesse, is planning “a big, 1970s-style birthday party” at the Theater am Tanzbrunnen venue — where 41 companies that have been exhibiting at the fair since its inception will celebrate the milestone event.

However, a look back is not the only reason that it will pay off to take part in ISM 2010. All the signs are also positive for the upcoming fair — which will again offer an extensive, diverse exhibition of products — and a number of new companies have also expressed interest in the 2010 event.

Approximately 1,600 suppliers from about 70 countries are expected to participate, occupying 110,000sqm of exhibition space. These exhibitors include market leaders as well as many
small and medium-sized companies.

With more than 80% of the exhibitors coming from abroad, ISM 2010 expertly covers the sector’s international range of products and services.
