Asian 2010 GDP forecasts upgraded again - Part 2: Would Asian retailers cash registers be sizzling now? Story 1 - One Viewpoint
Part 1 looked at how the sooner-than-expected economic rebound late last
year had dramatically boosted sentiments across Asian economies, which
were confident enough to begin projecting significantly robust GDP growth
rates for 2010. How bullish were the numbers and how sustainable were
they? Part 2 revisits these questions and looks at how the upbeat outlook
continues to unfurl.A key outcome has been rising consumer confidence.
But the outlook is not entirely without its downsides. And there are
uncertainties from the sovereign debt crisis within the Eurozone now. Asian
retailers can expect their cash registers to ring with more gusto but they
certainly cannot take it for granted.
