BroadcastAsia2011 and CommunicAsia2011 reaffirm status as industry launch pads
Story 3 - Review

OVER 56,000 trade professionals from across the spectrum of the broadcast, digital media and infocomm industries turned up at BroadcastAsia2011 (BCA2011) and CommunicAsia2011 (CMMA2011) from June 21-24. Hosted in separate venues this year — with BroadcastAsia2011 held at Suntec Singapore and CommunicAsia2011 located at Marina Bay Sands — the two shows reaffirmed their positioning as the premier networking events for the international broadcast and infocomm industries.

Said Stephen Tan, chief executive of organiser Singapore Exhibition Services (SES): “Each year, we endeavour to evolve the content, offerings and format of CommunicAsia and BroadcastAsia, and exhibitors and visitors continue to endorse our efforts through their regular participation in the shows.”

Attesting to the events’ status in the industry as the launch pads for a spectrum of technologies, solutions and services for the broadcast and infocomm industries, some 2,000 exhibitors from close to 60 countries took part this year. They ranged from small and mediumsized enterprises to multinational companies — taking up over 55,000sqf of exhibition space.

At BCA2011, some of the latest solutions to hit the scene were the Genus Hurricane Camera 3D rig by AV8 Media, and Polecam’s Starter Pack rig and outside broadcast support systems, which were released for the market. Other exhibitors such as Dalet, Grass Valley, Harris, Harmonic, Playbox and Sony also took to the show floor, to network and engage attendees with their displays.

Said Harmonic’s channel & marketing manager, Joyce Quark: “The quality of the visitors to BroadcastAsia2011 surpassed previous years’, and we were kept busy meeting prospective customers throughout the four days.”

This year also saw the introduction of the Cinematography/Film/Production Zone at the event, with various vendors such as Canon, Cine Equipment and Quantel displaying the latest in 3D, HD (high-definition), motion/film production and post-production solutions for the industry.
