HKTDC Food Expo to showcase products from around the world
Story 12 - Previews

Hong Kong is renowned for its cuisine, offering both locals and tourists a wide range of local dishes, a growing selection of international cuisines as well as a place to shop for expensive and rare food ingredients.

The HKTDC Food Expo, the territory's signature event for the food industry, attracts thousands of visitors, and it is an event that sees participation by food companies from around the world. This year, the 23rd edition, which returns to the Hong Kong Convention & Exhibition Centre from August 16-20, will feature some 900 exhibitors introducing a wide selection of F&B products and the latest information to both trade buyers and gastronomists.

"With overwhelming responses from visitors at the 2011 event, the Gourmet Zone makes a welcome return this year to showcase a fine selection of delicacies. In addition, interesting programmes such as cooking demonstrations by star chefs, special events hosted by exhibitors, and prize-winning games will be held to attract visitor traffic to the Gourmet Zone."

The Gourmet Zone will be staged from August 17-19 at Halls 3B-C. This dedicated zone highlights high-end food such as dessert, yoghurt, chocolate, wine, coffee and seafood. Exhibits are grouped under different themes, bringing new experiences to visitors in search of fine delicacies.

This year's Food Expo features a partner country for the first time. "Japan is Hong Kong's third-largest trading partner while Hong Kong is the biggest export market for Japanese food. We believe that the Food Expo will further promote food trading between the two places and between Japan and the rest of the world, and also encourage cultural exchange," Chau adds.
