World's largest trade fair returns to Guangzhou this October
Story 13 - Previews

The Canton Fair, reputedly the world's largest trade fair, returns to Guangzhou, China, for its 112th edition from October 15 to November 4 this year at the Canton Fair Complex.

The mega trade show will be held in three phases. Phase 1, from October 15-19, will feature: Electronics & Household Electrical Appliances; Lighting Equipment; Vehicles & Spare Parts; Machinery, Hardware & Tools; Building Materials, Chemical Products; and International Pavilion.

Phase 2, taking place from October 23-27, will focus on Consumer Goods; Gifts; and Home Decorations.

This will be followed by Phase 3 (October 31 to November 4) featuring: Textiles & Garments; Shoes; Office Supplies, Cases & Bags and Recreation Products; Medicines, Medical Devices and Health Products; Food; and International Pavilion.

Held twice a year, The Canton Fair continues to show "encouraging growth at a difficult time", says the organiser China Foreign Trade Group. Difficult financial and job market conditions in Europe and the US had impacted trade at the 111th Canton Fair, which was staged between late April and early May this year, although the slowdown was far less than many had expected, the organiser added.

In fact, the spring edition of the fair managed to post some record-breaking figures. It registered 210,000 buyers from 213 countries and regions, up 1.23% from the 109th session and 0.23% from the 110th session in 2011 respectively.
